“At the start of 2019 Spring Solutions were selected as BAE Systems consumables partner for the Rochester Business centre. A number of opportunities for improvement were identified by Spring Solutions. These included accurate management of stock, shelf-life management, obsolescence monitoring and cost allocation.
Spring Solutions has worked with BAE Systems to introduce a KANBAN based solution to our consumable issues. There are now consumable KANBAN stations set up on all cells across the site containing all the products needed for the different builds. The Spring Solutions on-site representative completes a designated route in which to replenish these stations every day. This solution allows BAE Systems to reduce the requestor’s down time as what they need will be readily available in the cell.
Spring Solutions manage a 12-week pipeline for all parts in the new system. This has greatly reduced the risk of stock-outs. Spring Solutions has worked to make the order process for these materials more efficient balancing the need for continuity of supply against the shelf life of the material. As a result of this BAE Systems has reduced waste across the site.
A new colour coded shelf-life system has been implemented by Spring Solutions. This mitigates risk of out of shelf-life material being used in the product.
Spring Solutions will now work with the BAE Systems team to analyse the innovative idea of using blister packs to further reduce our paint wastage.
This has been a challenging journey for both BAE Systems and Spring Solutions however the Spring Solutions team have always been open, honest, and supportive. I genuinely feel that we have faced problems together in a collaborative manner.”

“We have been using Spring Solutions for a number of years and they are now our partner of choice for all fastener requirements.  Spring also supply a number of key consumables such as adhesives, thinners, labels and conformal coating material.  Spring have also been instrumental in looking at our complete fastener requirements in a different way.  In 2014 BAE worked with Spring introducing the kitting process for long running assemblies.  This resulted in a number of key assemblies having all the fasteners required in kit boxes at point of use.  Spring are continually looking for other ways that they can improve their service including Kanban / call of purchase orders.   Jonathan and the team are extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the commodity”.
